Watching & Longing For the Return of Jesus Christ

The Coming US Election

The following letter is from Dutch Sheets, an intercessor and minister, that has come to me through a few sources. It perhaps articulates how I feel about the election better then most anything else that I have read.

Dear Praying Friend, In 2000, I wrote the 2nd most important letter of my life-a call to prayer for the elections of that year. I’m now writing what may be my most important letter. I knew the importance of those elections in 2000 was beyond any in my life up to that point and that the spiritual warfare surrounding them would be unlike anything any of us had ever seen. That letter was read by millions of people and I believe millions of them responded by praying. I also believe the prayers turned the tide.

You may question whether President Bush was the right choice; obviously, he has made some blunders in his tenure as president. But two of his decisions alone left no doubt he was God’s choice: Roberts and Alito. These two Supreme Court Justices have proven critical in the process of breaking the hold of humanism, death and anti-God agendas that have ruled the Court for 50 years. I assure you that more devastation-the shedding of innocent blood, immorality, decay of the family and an erosion of our godly heritage-has flowed into our nation through that institution than any other door in America . Many times more. The poison allowed into America through their decisions is beyond any of our abilities to articulate.
The reality in America is that you don’t need to control Congress or the White House to rule the nation. You only need 5 people - 5 out of 9 on the Supreme Court. And for decades those who disagree with just about everything you and I stand for have been in control!

In Bush’s two terms, the process of turning this around began with the appointments of Roberts and Alito. Now, we win some cases 5-4 and lose some 4-5. (We barely outlawed partial birth abortion. The vote of one judge saved thousands of babies from this horror.) We need one more conservative Justice for a consistent majority, then more to build a strong majority.

In Obama’s own words, “the next president will appoint at least one, perhaps two or more Supreme Court Justices.” He’s right. Almost certainly two or more older, liberal Justices are waiting until after the elections to retire, in hopes of Obama winning and appointing more liberals to replace them. And he certainly would. He voted against the confirmation of Roberts and Alito. So did Biden. And Biden led the fight against Justice Thomas several years back, another of the 4 solid conservatives. Make no mistake about it, the two of them do have a litmus test for Supreme Court Justices, and a major part of that test is Roe vs. Wade. McCain and Palin, on the other hand, both have very strong pro-life positions. This alone makes the choice for President simple. To vote for the 2nd and 3rd most liberal senators (Obama and Biden), both of whom are firmly and blatantly pro-abortion, would be unconscionable. Obama has actually said that if he wins, he would like his first action as president to be the signing of the Freedom of Choice Act, which would eliminate every other law against any aspect of abortion (partial birth abortion, parental notification, etc., etc.). And with a democratic majority in the House and Senate, pretty much any legislation he and Biden want to pass will be a slam-dunk. There are many other unrighteous positions they hold but this position alone makes the choice easy. If they win this election, it will set America back decades in the cause of life and the restoration we seek.

Just as many of you do, I too, want to see a first black President, but not Senator Obama. To allow that noble and godly desire, the economy or one’s position on the war to trump this issue of life and death for the innocent unborn is simply wrong. The scriptures teach that if we choose first to exalt righteousness and turn from evil, God promises to heal our land (see Proverbs 14:34; 2 Chronicles 7: 14). It is righteousness that exalts a nation, not wealth, prosperity or armies. If we will finish the process of removing the curses of death and anti-God laws off of America by electing a president that will continue to shift the Court, God will grace us with breakthrough in other areas such as the economy, the war against terrorism, etc. My faith is not in a person, and certainly not a political party, for the healing of America , but I know God’s word and His ways well enough to know that our decisions do move Him to action or inaction.

Now to the heart of my reason for writing this letter (I realize I am “preaching to the choir”-most of you who know or listen to me are conservative enough to vote for McCain and Palin.) I have not written any appeals for prayer concerning this election because:

1) others have, and

2)I believe our movement has matured to the point that the prayer base of the Church is already praying.
But I now feel the need to raise my voice. I am appealing to you to pray for these elections the next two weeks like you’ve never prayed for any in the past. Faithfully. Passionately. Boldly. Ask God for His mercy and grace. We deserve His judgment for removing His influence and authority from our government, schools, homes and businesses; for the killing of 50 million babies; for leading the world in the consumption and exporting of pornography; for passing laws to reject His; etc. But mercy triumphs over judgment and in His wrath He remembers mercy. In 2000 we actually lost the popular vote and won the election-talk about grace! Please pray for this grace to be released again. But I am also asking you for something more than normal prayer. For those of you who understand spiritual warfare, I am asking you to also include this aspect of prayer. There is no doubt that we have entered a Daniel 10 moment in time: “Then he said to me, ‘Do not be afraid, Daniel, for from the first day that you set your heart on understanding this and on humbling yourself before your God, your words were heard, I have come in response to your words. But the prince of the kingdom of Persia was withstanding me for twenty-one days; then behold, Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me, for I had been left there with the kings of Persia’” (Daniel 10: 12-13 NAS). The spiritual warfare in this election is incredibly fierce, and just as it was in Daniel’s day, is all about the restoration of a nation. And also like Daniel, we must keep praying until we win the battle in the heavens.

In August of this year I predicted that September would mark a shift in momentum for these elections. This happened with the appointment of Sarah Palin as the Vice Presidential nominee (who is a true Esther in our generation), but when the economy began its meltdown and the media ramped up their unprecedented attacks on Palin, that momentum wasn’t sustained. But we can see it turn again if we approach this battle as the spiritual warfare it truly is and bind the evil forces involved (see Matthew 16:18-19). The reality is that this election can be the breakthrough we need to fully shift the Court (and ultimately our nation) or it will be an immeasurable setback that could take many years to reverse-if ever.

Please understand what I am saying: if we engage in this battle and do what I am asking-in mass-we will win; if we do not, we will lose. I, for one, don’t intend to allow the latter. I am in Washington , D.C. now (October 20-22) with Lou Engle and a team of prayer leaders from around the nation to war for this election. Join us! Lose some sleep, miss some meals-pray! Pray like never before for these elections. And as you do, involve yourself not only in petitioning prayer but also in spiritual warfare. Use your God- given authority over the plans and strategies of satan’s kingdom. Bind all witchcraft that is working to control the outcome, including occultic powers that are suppressing truth. Release Christ’s Kingdom rule in every way the Holy Spirit leads you.

Don’t be deceived and don’t lose hope (if you have to, turn off the TV.) It is not too late to turn these elections. God is plenty powerful enough to do so. The real question is will we rise to the level of prayer and spiritual warfare necessary to release that power. And remember, we don’t need a majority of Christians who are willing and able to do this-only a praying remnant. We can do it!

Here are some practical suggestions to consider:
1) Fast (a meal a day; a day a week; a Daniel fast; 3 days; 10 days; TV;
etc.) and spend the time praying.
2) Agree in prayer with someone everyday for God’s will to be done.
3) Form/participate in prayer groups regularly. Churches could pray every day.
4) Take time in every gathering to pray. (Take 15 minutes in every service to pray for the elections. Turn an entire service to harp and bowl style intercession-worship and prayer combined.)
5) Join 2 or more on a conference call and pray for 15, 20, or 30 minutes.
6) Pray on the way to work (and on the way home).
7) Pray before you go to sleep.
8) Pray before church services.
9) Ask God to give you His strategy-He will!

In His grip,

Praying for the outcome of this election.

  2. dave Says:

Yes, Pastor Sheets, I too am praying for our nation to be delevered from the satanic forces involved in this election and in the deceit of our people.
Pray, pray for God’s mercy everyday!

  3. gavriel Says:

Thank you, pastor Sheets. I have been strougling in prayer for USA election for some time, and I have felt the heet from satan himself. We need protection from His Blood when praying. One evening I was walking our little white dog Jafna, when suddenly black doberman-dog attacked Jafna in the street and almost killed her. I could not do anything, because dog in that frency bites anything close by. I felt strong presence of an evil spirit. The vetdoctor was able to save Jafna, but she has almost 20 sm wounds, her skin partly torn away. Please first ask bloodprotection from evel from our dear Saviour. Greetings from Jerusalem, we too have elections! Gavriel

  4. Gideon Says:

    I have been praying.

I’m very afraid of this man and what he will do if he becomes president. I refuse to put a McCain/Palin sign in our yard because we have neighbors that are heavy Obama zombies, and I fear for my family. I also fear that if he becomes president we will eventually have a society much like Nazi Germany where neighbors turned in other neighbors who did not support the government. You can already see it with Joe the Plumber and the news anchor that asked Biden some tough questions.

  5. RW Says:

    thanks for posting, Joel.

This election is just the beginning - regardless of the outcome, from here on out until we see the Messiah on the clouds, we need to be living a lifestyle of prayer and fasting.

  6. melissa Says:

Thanks so much for sharing this. It heartens me, and to see the mainstream media—well, they’re so biased, it makes a person cry.

To have many knuckle down and pray fervently now is so encouraging. I certainly want to be counted in that group.

    Again, thanks.

  7. nancy Says:

My girls and I just a few minutes ago prayed for protection in what we know is a clear war on our family. The dreams…night mares…intuitions, are like I’ve never known before. We are praying for our country also.
My husband and I voted last Friday…the turn out has been incredible!
This feels like a fasting moment…thank you Joel for the post!
    GOD BLESS

  8. Todd Says:

Amen to this word from Dutch! And I want to add a couple things to encourage you all (we are all in need of as much encouragement as we can get!).

This one is about Julie Meyer’s dream. Julie is a prophetess here at the International House of Prayer in KC and the Lord has given her many profound dreams with national and international implications. She is first and foremost an intercessor and worshipper and out of that flows a life of dreams and prophesy.

This second one I recommend watching over and over, because it has strengthened me in this battle, it has re-fueled my hope and faith in the light of all the lies, polls, news, etc.
Remember in how the prophets strengthened those rebuilding the wall in Nehemiah’s time (Haggai and Zechariah). This video does the same.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yAwnc-DTEOE&feature=related

Back in the Spring or early summer Julie prophesied that it would be about the VP. Way before anybody even knew who Sarah Palin was. This is incredibly encouraging also. There are two parts:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cuom4o2XbNY&feature=related

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EHPj3F9AqyY&feature=related

I am encouraging everybody I can to take this week and fast and pray for Mercy for this nation. I am asking you to realign your schedules. If you have a Bible study, please change it into a prayer meeting. Skip meals, fast days, this is an Esther moment, she won. There are even some of you out there who are able to do an Esther fast (no food or water) be led by the Spirit.

Do not go about your week as usual.
    Turn off the polls,
    turn off the tv,
tune into ihop.org and join us in prayer for there is power in unity,
start prayer meetings at your church,
    send these links to millions,
join us live this Saturday as I and 70,000 to a 100,000 will be in Qualcomm Stadium in San Diego for The Call California. you can watch it live on God tv (direct tv channel 365) or watch the webstream for free on god.tv

It is a solemn assembly according to Joel 2 (such an important chapter for our times). To fast, pray and cry out for mercy, that God might leave a blessing (Sarah Palin and then more Supreme Court Justices who will rule for life and end the shedding of innocent blood).

Let us rise to this challenge!

  9. Todd Says:

The youtube video that is part 1 in the VP prophesy is actually Julie prophesying about the coming media revolution. It is good, but the actual prophesy concerning the election is in the second video. On youtube it is called:

Global Celebration: Julie Meyer’s Prophetic Word Part2

    Sorry about that.

  10. Jette Says:

    Todd,

I watched them both, how incredible. All beleivers must pray with all their heart soul and strength. Do what you can, we have to come together as a nation for God. We can overcome this evil in this world. God can heal our land, but we need to pray, HE will hear from heaven and HE will heal our land. Lets take our country back to what we based our country on. The BIBLE……..

  11. Jim L. Says:

Thanks for this Joel.We need all the inspiration we can possibly muster these
days.Prayer can turn things around, the momentum is shifting.Hope makes all things new.I will be praying with you all.

  12. Joel Says:

    Todd,

    Awesome. Thanks for posting this.

  13. Jeremiah Says:

I really appreciated what Julie Meyers had to say on the YouTube video. She echoes the flavor of my own prayers. My prayers have been less for or against and more for mercy and help. I think she’s right on about this because my spirit has been praying like that. Sometimes its hard to remember that God has an answer for the evil in our land when you look at all thats going on around us. I’ve commented many times that I believe Obama is a supernatural mystery surrounded by the spirit of antichrist. But I’ve spent too little time thinking about how Gov. Palin is likely God’s answer to that demonic mystery. She also seems to have been elevated especially for this time and I would like to believe that if we’ll pray with humility before God, the scale will tip our way. God have mercy.

  14. Gina Says:

There is POWER in the BLOOD of Christ and in the unified PRAYERS of His Body! We will overcome this wretched evil with our strength of FAITH and with the SWORD OF HIS WORD!
Be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might, brothers and sisters. YES! Seek His mercy in prayer and fasting as never before. I’m so very grateful for this post and the knowledge that we are one in our efforts together in His Spirit. Keep your armor on and preach in season and out, as Dutch said: HIS MERCY REIGNS!
What a compassionate, gracious God Jehovah we serve. Glorify Him in these last days that this election will indeed see the turning of the Court to favor tearing down the alter of abortion ALTOGETHER, paving the way for His glorious return.
    Maranatha and Shalom!

  15. diana Says:

I really do not want to be a downer. What I felt the Lord has been telling me is this…. your hope should not lie in a politician. Your home is not this world. This nation should not be worshipepd in place of me.

God is not a Republican. I really believe that B.O. has an A.C. spirit about him, but… Now, brothers and sisters, I am treading very lightly here… I am praying that if B.O. does win that God’s church will realize that it is because God allowed it and it is part of his plan. The world will one day be very difficult for us, that day is coming. God will not hold that back forever. Sarah Palin is not our savior. She will not usher in a new age of “Christian government”. The government of the U.S. is not “Christian” nor should we look for it to be. Our hope is in Christ and his future reign here on earth. Of course we should fight for the cause of the poor, the unborn. Christ has called us to do that. But not by might but by his spirit. We are not old testament Israel.
I am praying for God’s will to be done in this election. Not my will, not the republicans will, but God’s will. I really do not want to see B.O. win but most of all I want only what the Lord wants. Do not let fear rule you. He has allowed evil men to rule before in many nations for his purposes. Please pray for God’s will and do not fear what He will bring about because eventually God will receieve the glory.
In all sincerity and Christ’s love,
    Diana

  16. Gregory G. Nyman Says:

    Thank you, Diana,

Church, are we willing to accept what God allows, if the election goes the other way, and will we accept this as part of His plan. I struggle with this, but is more of my self. Of course I don’t want Obama, and yes, I want God’s will. Diana, you may tread lightly, but you speak the truth.

  17. Jeff Says:

“Just as many of you do, I too, want to see a first black President, but not Senator Obama. To allow that noble and godly desire,”

Noble - possibly. godly - are you kidding? Doubt God even sees the colour of our skin. I think thats an obsession we have down here. Does sound politically correct though. Maybe Dutch didn’t want to come across too politically incorrect (as much of the rest could well be considered poplitically incorrect).

    Is my point important? No
Now that I’ve honed in on Dutch’s splinter I think I’ll go work on my log - ouch!

  18. Joel Says:

    Jeff,

I would say that “godly” is an entirely appropriate term for the desire to see a black president. The reason is because it would represent a major victory in this nation in terms of coming to the place where skin color largely doesn’t matter (any longer), at least not in determining something as important as a presidential election. And that is the point. And of course, for African Americans who have the painful heritage that they do in this nation, it represents an awful lot and I think God cares very much about that.

  19. Jeff Says:

Its a bit of a worry when it takes a black candidate to win a presidential election for black Americans to feel better about things. Surely, the fact that a candidate can successfully compete and not be hindered by his/her race is sufficient.
Anyhow, this is all about politics of race. I do not care what colour a president is - only what they stand for. I have to strongly stand by what I said before. God is not interested in the politics of race. As He says in his Word, he looks at the heart. It is we humans who get caught up with colour. I cannot see God wanting a black president so that black people feel better about a country. He wants our sufficiency to be in him.

Talking of God’s way of looking for a leader for a nation:

“But the LORD said unto Samuel, Look not on his countenance, or on the height of his stature; because I have refused him: for [the LORD seeth] not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the LORD looketh on the heart.” (1 Sam 16:7).

If “godly” means Godlike then appearance is nothing - no matter how politically correct or how symbolic we think an appointment may be.

  20. Gideon Says:

    Jeff,

Great points and I absolutely agree! I listen to news radio while I am at work and last week was the start of our early voting here in Texas. I heard numerous people interviewed that said the reason they voted for Obama was because they could say they voted for the first black president! This is no different than women voting for JFk because they thought he was cute….! These people have no idea who they are really voting for, and what he will do when elected.

Another point, I heard a pole on Jewish Americans this morning that said they supported Obama 57% to John McCain’s 17%!!!!!!!!! I want to know how this is possible. Many interviewed have said their problem with McCain is his choice in Palin because she is an extremist Christian??!!! Seriously? Palin is the best friend Israel could have in the White House! Has GOD sent a strong delusion to these Jews, I don’t get it?

  21. Jeff Says:

“Its a bit of a worry when it takes a black candidate to win a presidential election for black Americans to feel better about things.”

BTW I am not saying that this is the case - that black Americans need a black president to feel better about America. That seemed to me to be what you were saying - that it would heal a painful heritage or something.

I lived as a white person in Africa for 30 years. There was no chance of there being a white president. Frankly I didn’t and don’t care about that. I am pretty sure God doesn’t care either. He cares about justice and righteousness.

If I have gone on a bit then please understand why. By Dutch claiming that its godly to want a president of a particular colour I believe he was (unintentionally) doing what we so often do - assuming that our current political/cultural/contemporary ideas of what is good is really of God. Treating homosexuality as a born condition and something to be embraced is now seen as good and compassionate - but it is clearly not godly. God’s ways are not our ways.

“Where there is neither Greek nor Jew, circumcision nor uncircumcision, Barbarian, Scythian, bond [nor] free: but Christ [is] all, and in all. “Col 3:11

  22. nancy Says:

    Diana,
I agree with the spirit of your post. (I believe we are Israel), but even then
we are under the universal umbrella called CHURCH. GOD’s plan, if we’ve interpreted scripture correctly, involves intense testing and refining…this may include BO.
I feel sad for our country…I also believe prayer can be for mercy in the midst of correction and testing. My prayer has been for discernment (spiritual) and I’m already seeing scriptures in a different light than a few months ago… (sometimes disturbing)… But ultimately, our HOPE is in JESUS…and our desire should be that ALL would have the same HOPE.

  23. diana Says:

    Nancy,
Oh, let me clarify. I do understand that we (God’s church) are grafted into Israel. Who is a jew? One whose heart is right with God. (Romans 2:29 and 11:17). I just meant that our country, the U.S. is not Israel. God’s promises are not directed at the United States of America. The faith of Abraham, Moses, ect and the great events in the old testament did not occur so that we, as AMERICANS, can claim them. I am beginning to see very differently than I did a few months ago too. Scripture is being made alive to me right now. I have been guilty of giving worship to my country. Of believing that somehow our COUNTRY is Christian. Those beliefs are wrong. I do not see things the same anymore. i believe the Lord is preparing us (his church) for what is ahead.
I pray that we stay on the narrow road and do not take the broad path that leads to destruction. Looking neither to the left nor the right but straight ahead on Jesus.
Thanks for the responses Nancy and Gregory.
This has been a great discussion and read from all.
    Blessings
    Diana

  24. diana Says:

    Jeff,
    I agree
Gideon, yes, there are people who will vote for B.O just because he is black. I also know of some (white people too) who call those who will not vote for him racists. This is very sad indeed. We, as a nation, have come to the point where if someone disagrees with a candidates policies they are now racist??!! Very, very sad. Yes, I am very sad for our country. I do pray for mercy
    Diana

  25. Todd Says:

    Diana,

Thanks for your reminder that God is not a Republican and that we should not put our hope in a politician. We all need to remember that Jesus is the King of Kings and our hope rests in Him and the fact that He raises up kings and tears them down, and that he puts Daniel’s and Joseph’s in place regardless of the condition of the rest of the government.

Yet with that foundation we can be very involved in the political process. (we will be ruling the earth with Jesus as kings and priests, those are government positions). God wants to establish justice and righteousness on the earth. And he uses regular, weak, broken human beings to do it. People like William Wilberforce, Abraham Lincoln, John Quincy Adams, Winston Churchill, etc. Politicians like that are not saviors but God’s agents to help establish his government on the earth.

Yes we are quickly approaching the end-times and it is going to bloody and brutal, I am currently reading things like Foxe’s Book of Martyrs and Gulag Archipelago, etc to get my heart prepared. Matthew 24 is very troublesome and is coming to every nation on earth, and it is coming at rapid pace.

BUT, when God gives us dreams and speaks to us through prophets about some things He is wanting to do then we choose to participate or just look ahead to His return and let opportunities pass us by.

Judgment is coming to the earth, but the level of judgment to particular cities and regions can be affected by the prayers of the saints.

God gave the church in America a powerful dream. He said there has been a change in plans. He said the cry for change has become louder than the cry for mercy. And if a king is what you want a king you shall have. Then he ended it by saying, “What are you gonna do about it?” He is showing His secrets to his prophets, he said he would do nothing without telling his prophets. This to me says it is not His will to give us a king (just like Israel) at this time (timing is key here to understanding this). And it is in his heart to give mercy, but we don’t really want it. Then to top it off, he challenges us to pray for mercy, that if our cry for mercy becomes louder than the cry for change, he will change his mind.

The power of intercession is understanding that a prayer for mercy can sometimes override even God’s will. That may seem crazy, but it’s Biblical. Moses, Abraham, Daniel are examples.

If we were living in 1930’s Germany, it’s easy to look back and say I would of done this or that, how could they of allowed that. Was Hitler God’s will? Did God allow it? Was Winston Churchill God’s will, or should he have kept his eyes on the future coming kingdom of Jesus and just let Hitler go forth because Jesus is coming soon? I am sure many thought the end was near during WWII. So it’s ok, to ask these questions and be involved with His Spirit and with might (the action of believers standing up for justice).

A good question is, “God what are you saying to us in this hour (timing)?” Eventually we will be carried off to prisons and killed by the millions, this is coming, but I believe God is giving the American church more time. And no we certainly do not deserve it. But I look around and see the “sheeple” people running around like sheep with no shepherd and I am like God, wait there are so many to wake up yet, before the Hitler/Antichrist type leaders began to rule the earth for a short time.

And this site exists to help prepare us for exactly that. And this site exists to make us aware of the evil of innocent bloodshed and its repercussions, so that the fullness of God’s terrible swift sword can be averted, which is what the book of Joel is all about. 24/7 prayer until Jesus comes back has much to do with the book of Joel and the release of a constant cry of mercy in the light of the extreme wickedness of mankind. Jesus on the cross crying “forgive them for they no not what they do.” is at the heart of it. And it also has to do with Justice and the cry for the only truly righteous and just king to come and bring his kingdom to rule on this earth, so that all evil will finally be fully eradicated.

  26. diana Says:

    Todd,
Yes, thanks for the long reply. It is hard to exactly articulate one’s thoughts on these posts. I have in no way advocated sitting idle while the rest of the world goes down the drain. I have not said we should not vote or pray for the lord’s mercy. I firmly believe that we should pray and do all we can to help those God gives us to help. But, i do see a fine line. If you bring up Germany during WWII than I will bring up the “justice” of the “Christian” crusaders. Did they not think they were fighting for the Lord’s will here on earth? Many leaders in the church even put to death christians because they did not see things the same way. Many Christians stood up for what was right in Germany, they were killed.
Oh, yes, God always warns before judgement. But, we also have the responsibility to find out just who all of these prophets are. Do we just take any and all prophecies as from God? Are we not to test all things? The new testament letters to the churches are full of warnings of false prophets giving prophecies to “tickle the ears”. The real prophets of Israel were not listened to, they were hated. Many of the prophets I have come across today give grand prophecies of “it will all be ok” “God will not judge us” ect. We must judge prophets by what scripture says. If a prophet is not 100% acurate than they are no prophet. Not my opinion, it is in the bible as such.
If McCain wins does this mean that God is pleased with us? Judgement will not fall on us if McCain wins??? The church in the U.S. is being given another chance to repent and throw away its idols if McCain wins? The church won’t say it outloud either that Palin is the one everyone is longing for but McCain has to get out of the way first.
I do not mean to be harsh, it is hard not to sound so in a letter. I am just appalled at this whole election and how Christians are reacting.
Please tell me why the Lord of Heaven’s armies would give the church in America another chance if we do not wish to repent of all of the junk we have on our plates??? I see “pray for mercy” but I have not seen “repent”. Do we want mercy from his judgement because of America’s sins of abortion and ect. or do we cry “mercy” because of our (the church) sins? There is a huge difference.
I love this web site, I have gained much knowledge about things to come. I am thankful that the Lord warns us first.
    Peace,
    Diana

God’s clear plan was to destroy Ninevah….I confidently can state that the Crusaders were not in anyway acting in a ‘christian’ manner when they executed any atrocities they may have committed. I feel insulted as a christian when nominal christians are defined as true christians…. I see no evidence of anyone here putting ‘faith’ in any politician whatsoever…. Anyone who thinks that The Almighty is a republican is a hapeless idiot, therefore making that statement to anyone or any group has it’s implications… ‘If McCain wins does this mean that God is pleased with us?’ . Of course not but, it may mean He’s heard our prayers….I’ll back the argument that just about all human endeavors involves the choosing of a lesser of two evils. Whether or not America is a christian country is irrelevant to me, because I live here and love here and have my desires for this place which I believe are Godly. Downplaying my responsibility as a christian to oppose this evil is a mistake in my opinion, because of course it matters who wins! … An excellent article but I agree with Jeff on the race point. If Judgment does start in The House God and if the salt loses it’s savor well…. Of course everything is pretty much meaningless without repentance….The salient word in 2Chronicles 7:14 is Repent.

  28. diana Says:

    Chris,
    Strong words.
I agree, repent is the resounding word. Ninevah repented, so God spared them.
I was not acussing anyone of being a hapeless idiot.
I never once downplayed your responsibilty as a christian to oppose this evil. why are you reading it that way??? I am voting. I am voting for McCain. i have just simply noticed a tendency in christian circles lately.
Did I say the crusaders were acting like christians??? did I word it wrong?? I do not beleive they were Christ like at all.
It is an honest question, what will we think if McCain wins?
Like I said earlier, treading lightly…
I feel you might have read some of my post the wrong way. No way was I defending nominal christians or crusaders.
I think this has gone on a little too far if people are reading it that way.
    Peace to you
    Diana

    Brothers and sisters,
Alan Keyes is indeed an African-American or Black, as we label them and is an EXCELLENT candidate whom I wish was running again. B.O. is Arab and there’s a BIG difference! His claim to be Black is a lure for the African-American voters but his heritage is Kenyan/Indonesian Muslim, the very ones who were responsible for Africans/Blacks being brought to this country for slavery.
How B.O. does NOT support himself being HALF WHITE/HALF MUSLIM is beyond me except for it being for deciept (taqqiya) or political ploy. His intentions are to WIN and then, with all the BIG $ he’s received from Islamofascist extremists, he just may be the Mahdi they’ve been waiting for to overcede the ‘Great Satan’ of the USA.
There are just too many UNKNOWNS about this man: his lack of valid birth record (grandma, half-sister & -brother witnessing his birth in Kenya!), residency in Indonesia, radical associations (the list is too long to repeat here…) and no college records. This guy is SO illegitimate and yet the DNC seems to be able to cover all that up so easily behind millions of (bribery!) dollars.
A Black president with legitimate records/qualifications: YES
    B. Hussein Obamanation: NO, NO, NO!
Lord, have mercy on us. Yes, if he is elected we will face the penalties we are due but I pray our Lord hasn’t given us over to this fate just yet.

The fervant prayers of the righteous in Christ availeth MUCH!
    Alleliuia Jehovah Jireh!

  30. nancy Says:

    Diana,
I only want you to know that your point IS understood.
The glass can be half empty and half full all at the same time.
Yes, we will all vote, for the least dangerous choice…but ultimately the future has already been written.
We will all pray for mercy and many will repent…but ultimately the END will come, if not soon then later…

  31. diana Says:

    Thanks Nancy

  32. CBDenver Says:

This is my first time reading this site. No, I will not tread lightly. I have to confess that Diana’s posts are very contentious. She accuses people of believing things that no one has stated. She claims:

“Sarah Palin is not our savior” (No one said she was).

“She will not usher in a new age of “Christian government”” (Nobody said she would).

“If McCain wins does this mean that God is pleased with us?” (I never heard anyone say that either and that is certainly not the proper interpretation of “mercy”)

“Judgement will not fall on us if McCain wins??? ” (Ahhh — this appears to be the root of the issue — extreme anger and a desire to have judgement rain down on us. Sounds like Jonah complaining because God spared the Ninevites).

I believe the main importance of Sarah Palin’s candidacy is that she is a strong supporter of Israel and, if elected, will be in a position to turn America away from the anti-Israel policies that many in the government espouse. The other ticket traffics with the pro-Palestinian, anti-Israel crowd that would love to end all US support for Israel. It was Harry Truman who defied his closest advisors and recognized the fledgling state of Israel in 1948. The right person in the right place at the right time can make critical, history-changing decisions. I believe that God wants us to be fully engaged in history up until the very moment He chooses to take us out. That includes standing with Israel while we can.

I also believe that Sarah Palin can serve as a role model for many people in our society. OK, perhaps I should say a “witness” to use proper “christianese”. As a woman of faith in a prominent position, she has the ability to counter-balance the negative stereotypes about Christians that dominate the media. That alone is enough to open a small window for evangelism to the lost. In particular, Gov. Palin’s personal decision to not abort her Down Syndrome son is a powerful witness for non-believers. We should not take that lightly.

That is why I am praying for a McCain/Palin victory.

  33. diana Says:

    CBDenver,
I am sorry to have offended you. Unfortunatley, you have read me wrong and judged me incorrectly. If you knew me there is no way you could see “extreme anger and a desire to have judgment rain down on us”.
Again, I am sorry to have offended anyone but I was just speaking my thoughts into the conversation as everyone else has. I believe that Christians can have conversations and yet not agree. I was treading lightly because I hate offending people. You chose not to tread lightly, I will accept that, however, it was quite biting and I feel that you intentially tried to sting me. I simply asked honest questions. Questions I, myself have!

    Diana

  34. CBDenver Says:

    Diana,

You claim you were asking questions, when in fact you were making statements. If you really wanted to just ask questions, here is how to properly ask questions:

This is a statement, not a question:
“Sarah Palin is not our savior”

Here is the proper question form:
“Are some people thinking that Sarah Palin is our savior”?

    Again, statement:
“She will not usher in a new age of “Christian government””.

Here is the question form of that idea:
“Do some people think that she will usher in a Christian form of government?”

By actually asking questions, you can actually engage in a fruitful dialog with others if that is in fact what you are choosing to do. By simply making statements that assume what others are thinking you only stir up conflict.

By the way, I didn’t “try to sting you” — I rebuked you. I read enough angry voices spewing their bilge on secular blogs I certainly don’t want to be subjected to the same on a Christian one. Thanks to you this is my first and last time visiting this site. It is appalling how you dominated this conversation thread with your angry vituperations.

  35. nancy Says:

    CBDenver,
No one who is a regular on this site would disagree with you on Sarah Palin!
    Everyone LOVES her!
She is the reason I voted.
    She is my hero…
But, your tone IS unnecessarily harsh.
    …and judgmental…
You can certainly disagree, but you can’t know what’s in diana’s heart.
Many of us are grieving for our Country…I believe that we are going to experience “Jacob’s Trouble”…possibly in the near future. I want to see B.O. defeated also, but ultimately my primary focus is on spiritual survival…and even though I believe politically we could have a Victory
even now, In the big picture…other than prolonging the inevitable, would it really matter?
The end will still come…and it’s not gonna be pleasant.

  36. nancy Says:

…eventually the anti-christ will make his entrance…and when we know for sure who he is, what will be our obligation as Believers?
    Will we fight him?
Will we feel compelled to actively battle against?…I suppose if he came to power in America, we would want to vote against him if we had the opportunity. But realistically, I think my priorities would be to survive if possible, stay out of his way, pray for mercy and wisdom, and plead for strength, if called to “bow down”…(wouldn’t want to fail THAT test)
I guess my point is,…would we talk about previous battles and wars or debate politics?
At THAT point would we expect a change in plans or would we accept the inevitable and pray for guidance, protection, mercy and strength?
If we can learn from given prophecy, we would probably cry “Come, Lord Jesus!”
Because we are not sure at this moment where we are, let’s do our civic duty and vote as wisely as we can…but, in the words of diana…our hope is not in Palin, McCain or any other politician….Our hope is in JESUS.

  37. diana Says:

    CBDENVER,
That is silly not to visit this site because you are offended by me. This is a wonderful site that will give you much information that you will need. You won’t find much info like this anywhere. Believe what you will about me, it doesn’t really matter. Perhaps others feel the same but I don’t think they will leave this great site. Please do come back and visit it, it is really important.
    Peace in Christ,
    Diana

  38. diana Says:

Oh, very well said, Nancy. You really do articulate better than I do! I Love Sarah Palin too. I want girls all over the country to learn from her including my own. I wish I knew of such men my boys could learn from.
The Lord has given me a peace the last few days in regards to this election, I was starting to become fearful. I will praise Him regardless of the outcome. :)
    Peace,
    Diana

  39. Pastor_chris Says:

The prophetic video on here troubles me greatly. Speaking in generalities and declaring it is from the Lord leaves me cold and I find it utterly unconvincing. BTW if Obama wins then I say this Meyer lady is aproven to be a false prophet. While she did not predict the winner of the election the implication (she even said god declared it “his ticket”) was that McCain-Palin is God’s ticket. Now I am voting for McCain (Palin really) but still I have to say this “prophecy” seems fishy to me. If Obama wins are going to forsake this so called prophet?? You should. Anyways God bless!

  40. chris Says:

CBDENVER: Just because your rebuttal wasn’t answered, but was sidestepped is no reason to abandon this site. This is actually a pretty good site in regards to Biblical Prophecy and sometimes even an election among other things as in this case. Although I may not agree 100% with you, your comments showed clear and concise thinking.
