US Military To Keep The Peace Here in US
Again, my apologies for the somewhat paranoid post below. Things are certainly unlike anything I have ever experienced the past week or so. I held off on posting this story for concern that it was too “black helicopter”. But apparently the rumors are true that the US is going to begin using its own military here in the States. This is a complete violation of Posse Comitatus by the way. Harbinger of things to come? Who knows…
Army Times: The 3rd Infantry Division’s 1st Brigade Combat Team has spent 35 of the last 60 months in Iraq patrolling in full battle rattle, helping restore essential services and escorting supply convoys.
Now they’re training for the same mission — with a twist — at home.
Beginning Oct. 1 for 12 months, the 1st BCT will be under the day-to-day control of U.S. Army North, the Army service component of Northern Command, as an on-call federal response force for natural or manmade emergencies and disasters, including terrorist attacks.
It is not the first time an active-duty unit has been tapped to help at home. In August 2005, for example, when Hurricane Katrina unleashed hell in Mississippi and Louisiana, several active-duty units were pulled from various posts and mobilized to those areas.
But this new mission marks the first time an active unit has been given a dedicated assignment to NorthCom, a joint command established in 2002 to provide command and control for federal homeland defense efforts and coordinate defense support of civil authorities.
After 1st BCT finishes its dwell-time mission, expectations are that another, as yet unnamed, active-duty brigade will take over and that the mission will be a permanent one.
“Right now, the response force requirement will be an enduring mission. How the [Defense Department] chooses to source that and whether or not they continue to assign them to NorthCom, that could change in the future,” said Army Col. Louis Vogler, chief of NorthCom future operations. “Now, the plan is to assign a force every year.”
The command is at Peterson Air Force Base in Colorado Springs, Colo., but the soldiers with 1st BCT, who returned in April after 15 months in Iraq, will operate out of their home post at Fort Stewart, Ga., where they’ll be able to go to school, spend time with their families and train for their new homeland mission as well as the counterinsurgency mission in the war zones.
Stop-loss will not be in effect, so soldiers will be able to leave the Army or move to new assignments during the mission, and the operational tempo will be variable.
Don’t look for any extra time off, though. The at-home mission does not take the place of scheduled combat-zone deployments and will take place during the so-called dwell time a unit gets to reset and regenerate after a deployment.
The 1st of the 3rd is still scheduled to deploy to either Iraq or Afghanistan in early 2010, which means the soldiers will have been home a minimum of 20 months by the time they ship out.
In the meantime, they’ll learn new skills, use some of the ones they acquired in the war zone and more than likely will not be shot at while doing any of it.
They may be called upon to help with civil unrest and crowd control or to deal with potentially horrific scenarios such as massive poisoning and chaos in response to a chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear or high-yield explosive, or CBRNE, attack.
Training for homeland scenarios has already begun at Fort Stewart and includes specialty tasks such as knowing how to use the “jaws of life” to extract a person from a mangled vehicle; extra medical training for a CBRNE incident; and working with U.S. Forestry Service experts on how to go in with chainsaws and cut and clear trees to clear a road or area.
The 1st BCT’s soldiers also will learn how to use “the first ever nonlethal package that the Army has fielded,” 1st BCT commander Col. Roger Cloutier said, referring to crowd and traffic control equipment and nonlethal weapons designed to subdue unruly or dangerous individuals without killing them.
“It’s a new modular package of nonlethal capabilities that they’re fielding. They’ve been using pieces of it in Iraq, but this is the first time that these modules were consolidated and this package fielded, and because of this mission we’re undertaking we were the first to get it.”
The package includes equipment to stand up a hasty road block; spike strips for slowing, stopping or controlling traffic; shields and batons; and, beanbag bullets.
“I was the first guy in the brigade to get Tasered,” said Cloutier, describing the experience as “your worst muscle cramp ever — times 10 throughout your whole body.
“I’m not a small guy, I weigh 230 pounds … it put me on my knees in seconds.”
The brigade will not change its name, but the force will be known for the next year as a CBRNE Consequence Management Response Force, or CCMRF (pronounced “sea-smurf”).
“I can’t think of a more noble mission than this,” said Cloutier, who took command in July. “We’ve been all over the world during this time of conflict, but now our mission is to take care of citizens at home … and depending on where an event occurred, you’re going home to take care of your home town, your loved ones.”
While soldiers’ combat training is applicable, he said, some nuances don’t apply.
“If we go in, we’re going in to help American citizens on American soil, to save lives, provide critical life support, help clear debris, restore normalcy and support whatever local agencies need us to do, so it’s kind of a different role,” said Cloutier, who, as the division operations officer on the last rotation, learned of the homeland mission a few months ago while they were still in Iraq.
Some brigade elements will be on call around the clock, during which time they’ll do their regular marksmanship, gunnery and other deployment training. That’s because the unit will continue to train and reset for the next deployment, even as it serves in its CCMRF mission.
Should personnel be needed at an earthquake in California, for example, all or part of the brigade could be scrambled there, depending on the extent of the need and the specialties involved.

The active Army’s new dwell-time mission is part of a NorthCom and DOD response package.Active-duty soldiers will be part of a force that includes elements from other military branches and dedicated National Guard Weapons of Mass Destruction-Civil Support Teams.
A final mission rehearsal exercise is scheduled for mid-September at Fort Stewart and will be run by Joint Task Force Civil Support, a unit based out of Fort Monroe, Va., that will coordinate and evaluate the interservice event.
In addition to 1st BCT, other Army units will take part in the two-week training exercise, including elements of the 1st Medical Brigade out of Fort Hood, Texas, and the 82nd Combat Aviation Brigade from Fort Bragg, N.C.
There also will be Air Force engineer and medical units, the Marine Corps Chemical, Biological Initial Reaction Force, a Navy weather team and members of the Defense Logistics Agency and the Defense Threat Reduction Agency.
One of the things Vogler said they’ll be looking at is communications capabilities between the services.
“It is a concern, and we’re trying to check that and one of the ways we do that is by having these sorts of exercises. Leading up to this, we are going to rehearse and set up some of the communications systems to make sure we have interoperability,” he said.
“I don’t know what America’s overall plan is — I just know that 24 hours a day, seven days a week, there are soldiers, sailors, airmen and Marines that are standing by to come and help if they’re called,” Cloutier said. “It makes me feel good as an American to know that my country has dedicated a force to come in and help the people at home.”

This sounds like what my Son had mentioned…except for the context.
He was told by his Drill Sargent that if he wanted to avoid combat, he needed to transfer into the full time Army, because they were no longer deploying this group, But if He wanted war experience he needed to stay put because
the Nation Guard would be (for sure) the group sent.

((( welll i live around wichita kansas and the old airforce base still has some planes but what is scary we have the biggest listening spy stuff here it is in the middle of the country and well it spies on us you and me nice isnt it >>>well along time ago some of my friends joined the army and we were back then partying and they said they were trainned to keep the peace here at home and to make sure us the population keep within the boundaries of the law , this didnt go well with me then and a big arguement happened amoung other things thats a given that was in the easrly 90’s , so my friends the people may change but the game never does , i was worried about big brother then and worried about them now more so now since I have a have and three small kids I wish they were teenagers so they could kinda take care of themselves in the case of me or my wife every being hurt or killed i know im crazy but things can happen im not one who believes america will be spared the tribulation or anything if it happend to russia and germany it can happen here and this post amoung others is being looked at of course .

Joel your government must be pretty spooked if this is so. Mind you ecomomic crashes are often a direct threat to a country as in civil war, breakdown, oh and rise of extremsit leaders. A remember a UK Civil Servant was quoted as say that Britain is constantly at 3 days from complete breakdown, why did he say this? In the event of a disaster our shops would be out of food in 2-3days.

I don’t think it has to do with the economic crisis specifically, I believe it’ll be a split between that and the threat of a terrorists attack.
Funny…no mention of the pact between Canada and the USA for Canadian troops to sustain Martial Law if declared as an Executive Order.

This isn’t anything new, yes the military plays a role in homeland defense too.
Recently they had an exercise which dealt with a nuclear strike against Indy (why there I don’t know) pulling all nighters, actors broadcasting live news reports via satillite. He said it was extremely realistic, so much so, he was seriously depressed by the realization of it is nolonger an if, but when, and of the catostrophy, choas and panic to follow.
The excercises and deployment are driven by the likely hood of a NBC (Nuclear-Biological- Chemical) attack against our country by the enemy. I can assure you they are not fearing citizens will rise up and strike government because of the childlike politics going on in puzzle palace today.
Pray those in authority abide by their oath to defend our constitution.

Well, what a waste of resources to just have them watching and waiting. How much would that cost ? It would be a pointless expenditure unless we KNEW something was going to happen ..or perhaps STRONGLY SUSPECTED something was going to happen …..say, in response to Israel’s expected strike against Iran.
And how FREAKING STUPID is this ….. the National Guard is in ANOTHER nation …. and the Army is fighting at the front lines …. AT HOME !!!???!?!

We need to be on our faces daily before the Lord as we enter into this election season and beyond. I can’t think of a “better” (from the terrorist’s point of view) time for them to strike then now. With the economic crisis, the upcoming election and all of the contention that is happening in our country because of it, it just feels to me that things are “ripe” for an attack. nancy- Your son heard a low-level drill sergeant spouting off about things to impress his Soldiers, when he has no real idea what he is talking about. Drill SGTs train troops–that’s it. Thery are not privy to force structures for future deployments and contingencies that are planned by the national command authority with the assistance of many generals in the Pentagon.
Everyone here needs to put down their paranoid antennae. The US Army is made up of patriotic Americans — including its leadership, who are controlled by many, many checks and balances. This line of goofy talk is not helpful.
If all of you’d read the article you’d see that this is a NorthCom operation. NorthCom has the Homeland Security mission. The mission of defending this country against invaders and responding to massive terrorist attacks, such as NBC. Thus, the involvement of the medical brigade and Marine NBC units. Read the article. Quit looking for the mysterious man behind the curtain.

quick strike i have a family member in iraq and have had family members in many wars revolution , civil , ww2 ect ect . and they the ones still alive and my brother in law have said many different things about this type of stuff and hey not all military men and women are the greatest people there are always bad in any group and paranoid well my friend do a history lesson on the governments of the world and all the empires that rose and have fallen a quick study and youll see things can happen , its not the end of the world my friend but its okay to be aware of things and prepare to live life as normal as you can but also prepare for the day you might have to do things you normally wouldnt do .

there may not be mysterious men behind a curtain but there is a war going on it isnt with flesh and blood it is spirit , demons and angels and power beyond what we know the war is the oldest one before time or history before any of this but it has spilled over to us and our little old planet there are angels who control lands rivers oceans ect ect as hard as that might sound its in your bible and mine the war is bigger then us all , and by the way satan used a serpent ( the shining one ) to deceive eve notice in the bible people are used as the conduit to which evil is used as satan used cain to kill able and lie about it Jesus our LOrd said that satan was a murder from the begining and he is the father of all liars so there you have it my friend , we may disagree but I thank you for your service and to all those who are worthy of honor .

It is not the military that concerns me. I know that the military is made up of patriotic Americans, I have no doubt.
It is our government I do not trust! We have a bunch of elected officials that are pushing our nation to the left without even hiding it any longer! The government has grown too large and bloated! The gov has too much power, it has choked our system with its progressive taxes. We have one of the largest corporate taxes in the world! No wonder our industries are leaving! The vast majority of our paychecks go to taxes!
We are on the road to a second civil war. Thomas Jefferson warned about this, he said, in order to keep the Republic what it is you will have to have a revolution every so often to keep the system functioning for the people. If not, the government will grow and pass laws that are not in favor of the people and power will go to an oligarchy.
We have a nation that is now financially broke and Congress still tries to pass a 700 billion “bail out” that contained so much pork for their districts…….!!!!! That is one of the freakin components of the problem we are in!!!!! They simply are not working for the people, they care only about power!

This is why it is so important to me personally to know who all the players are in GOD’S end time Scenario.
Some of us want to understand specifically who the Bad Guys are…Some of us are more focused on the Good Guys. We all just want understanding, so as to interpret our TIME correctly.
I’ve become super sensitive regarding OUR AMERICA…apparently Quicksrike has also for His own reasons. I can understand His position. If I where in our military and had devoted my career and life to defending OUR America, I would want to be given the total trust of the People.
But as you pointed out, It’s the Leadership at the top that has us all a little bit nervous and for good reasons!
…which brings me back to my original point…who is America in God’s Plan for THE END?
If you are convinced that we are PART of the Good Guys then you will view things one way…If you are suspicious that we might be the bad guys then…
I will cling to the first assumption! I’m going to assume that our Government is working hard for our good and not our destruction.

Believe me, I am sensitive to everyone’s concerns about end times scenarios and how evil men (under Satan’s influence) can take good people and use them for their evil aims. In this case, I don’t think this is at all the case. Here’s some other background information:
NorthCom does not have any tactical units as part of their permanent task organization. They “borrow” units from other organizations depending on the mission theri given. In this case, the 1st Brigade Combat Team, 3rd Inf Div has task organized to NorthCom for response to natural or manmade emergencies and disasters, including terrorist attacks. It a temporary arrangement that will be filled by another BCT when this relationship is done in 12 months. During this year, as reported in the article, the unit will continue to train and prepare for future deployments, wherever that might be.
Plus, a BCT is only 4000-5000 Soldiers. Many of which are staff and support personnel. Not nearly enough to man the many “concentration camps” that are supposedly out there. Only enough to react quickly and efficiently to a localized incident, like a terrorist attack.
Who better to respond to such an event? A trained and ready active component, or a national guard force who needs to be mobilized, trained, and deployed in order to respond to such an event.
Joel- One of the things I appreciated most about your book when I first read it in 2005 when I was in Iraq, was its measured and logical approach to the things that will happen. It was not like the many “sky is falling” end times books that I had read previously. Your focus seemed to be to inform the saints, and witness to the Muslim, which I appreciated. I just hate to see misunderstandings about logical facts to cause our brothers and sisters to get overly distracted from those two messages.

First, I receive your correction. While I also value levelheadedness etc., I admit that I at times, particularly in light of the degree to which I am daily inundated with all of this negative info, get a bit anxious etc. That said, there certainly are at least a few legitimate reasons to be a bit more concerned than normal. Obviously, the financial meltdown, for anyone who is following it, has revealed the deep degree to which the US is on extremely shaky ground. I don’t personally believe that the US will ever be the same. Perhaps I am wrong and I hope that for the sake of my kids that I am. But beyond the financial issues, there is the reality of more potential natural disasters, imminent terrorist attacks and now even Russia is suddenly reasserting herself. Add to this, Iran, North Korea, Obama… Now, of course I trust and respect the US military fully. However, the notion of the US military ever needing to be used here at home is what is scary. And perhaps the paranoid question that I ask myself is; do they know anything that I don’t? Perhaps I just need to turn off Glenn Beck and anesthetize my mind with some UFC. But again, I appreciate your correction.

Eventually the sky IS going to start falling…literally!….for those of us with faith, this is just a fact.
I have wrestled with my creator my whole life. I have searched for answers,
prayed for mercy, and sought assurances that when the STARS begin to FALL
that my family would have HOPE. (hope for LIFE ETERNAL)
I still have many questions with no answers, but the question of my destiny is no longer an issue.

The Posse Comitatus law has been updated and changed, the latest being in 2008.
That statue was never intended to exclude our military when we are at war and that applied to the original law. And my brothers and sisters, we are at war.
I know most in our country don’t seem to recognize that, but we are.

Greetings! I can think of one example where we would WANT to have US Army forces active on American soil. I believe that if something should occur on Oct. 7 (the 7-year anniversary of Operation Enduring Freedom Afghanistan), it would be a Beslan-style attack on a number of schools around the country, and/or the capturing of schoolbusses filled with children. In their minds, we’ve been killing their children since before 9/11; it’s time for some of our children to be killed.
Beslan lasted three days. Imagine how the parents will feel after three days of not knowing how their children are, if they’ve already been killed, etc. Imagine how many parents will decide to start homeschooling their kids in order to keep them safe. Imagine the economic effect when millions of people (not necessarily all women) quit their jobs.
Not to mention, but if such an attack were to occur, it’s likely that there would be at least one Muslim family in America that would be attacked, or one mosque. When that happens, you can bet Al-Jazeera will be running the videotape of that loop 24/7 to show how America is at the front of a new Crusade against Islam.
In the event of such an attack, it would seem reasonable to have an army group with urban combat skills to be the spear point of any action taken to remove these invaders. Thus, having the 1st of the 3rd stationed here in America, since any large-scale terrorist attack can be reasonably defined as “an invading force.”

I wanted to elaborate on what Joel mentioned previously. What “If” Barack’s idealogy of “change” vis-a’-vi mass withdrawel of troops from Iraq, so as to keep America from a sociopolitical uprising? It is completely absurd that we would need to withdraw 30,000-90,000 troops from Iraq, unless the goal is to configure a peaceful climate to a coming global government. Perhaps those holding to divisive belief systems’ will be considered as threats to the “peace.” I believe there might be a hidden agenda with the Obama-Biden 08 bandwagon. Just maybe.

the UFC is awesom stuff , I remember as a kid my best friend lived behind a refridge store and there were cardboard boxes we use to have cardboard box matches with the kids on the block , lay um down all over the back yard and go at it we even had point system and this was in 83 ,84 ? well anyway man it sure was fun then now im older and think im still tough but the thing I might get in trouble someday or so my wife says , she tells me im married and have little ones to think about I know I know not christian to get mad , but im human, and its hard to back down or not to say things when you feel provoked and yes its stupid, so better to watch it instead .

Just my opinion here, but I believe UFC, and any type of physical contact sport is an addiction to adrenaline and endorphines produced by physical pain. While these sports are a lot of fun to watch and participate in we should keep in mind that any addiction is contrary to proper behavior practices. Again, it’s just my opinion, but based on more than a little experience.

Scott might be coming on antagonistic but he’s got a point about the Jewish ceremonies/feast.
As adopted Jews we should be doing some serious studying of all of the ceremonies because they are a part of God’s time line to Christ’s return. One of the greatest downfalls of the western Church is.. they’ve become too western and have left out the Jewish roots. There have been 3 things God has pressed upon my heart since 2001.
Love others like I love you even in your dark times
Understand the spirit behind Islam where the ant-christ and false prophet will arise. (please don’t hammer me about this)
